Share a file or folder securely in OneDrive or SharePoint
Sharing from OneDrive or SharePoint means everyone sees the latest version and you control who can access it — and you can stop sharing any time.
Right-click and choose Share
In OneDrive or SharePoint, right-click the file or folder and choose Share.
Set who can access it
Click the link settings and choose 'People you choose' rather than 'Anyone', so only named people can open it.
Choose view or edit
Decide whether they can just view or also edit, and untick 'Allow editing' if they only need to read it.
Send the link
Enter their email and send, or Copy link and paste it into your own email.
Stop sharing when done
Use Manage access on the file to remove people or stop sharing once it's no longer needed.
Still not working?
If you need to share safely with people outside your organisation, or want to lock down a sensitive folder, we can set that up for you.
